Sprint Will Offer Unlimited Data Plans for the Next iPhone with LTE

According to CNET, Sprint has confirmed plans to continue offering unlimited data plans for the next iPhone regardless of whether or not it supports LTE, which is expected to launch early in the fall of 2012. The company is already sticking with unlimited for its first batch of LTE phones, but it was unclear whether the offer would apply to next iPhone. "I'm not anticipating the unlimited plan would change by that point," he said. "That's our distinctive differentiator." According to the Associated Press, Sprint began selling iPhones in October, after AT&T and Verizon.  Sprint also had to promise Apple that it would spend $15.5 billion on the beloved devices over the next four years to get them in the first place.  That's a tall order for a company who has had a precarious financial position in the past. Sprint continues to be very successful in the iPhone market.  In fact, 44% of Sprint's iPhone sales during the first quarter of 2012 were to customers switching over from another carrier.  Sprint was the last of the big three United States iPhone providers to release first quarter earnings for 2012, and the numbers are slightly down from the previous quarter.  This quarter they sold 1.5 million iPhones while last quarter they sold 1.8 million.  Spring continues to lag behind Verizon who sold 3.2 million iPhones and AT&T who sold 4.3 million! What does this news matter to you? Well, it was previously thought that with LTE's faster data speeds, Sprint wouldn't be able to handle the larger amounts of cellular data.  Sprint has also been a slow poke when it comes to rolling out LTE support, offering WiMAX for its 4G technology at first. Rest assured, if you're a Sprint customer, you should be able to enjoy an unlimited data plan with the next iPhone.
